Soccer Stars

The kids have been in soccer this spring. Here are their pictures. I think Ethan will continue playing but I dont think Audrey really enjoys it. I'm thinking I will try gymnastics for her next.

That was a crazy tribal last week. I kind of wish malcolm would go, he is alittle too sure of himself this time around. I'm sure Boston Rob is loving all the mentions of him from Phillip.

Hawaii Day 5

After fighting traffic to get from the west end of the island to the east the day before, we were at,east prepared for it. we actually saw an accident this morning on our way to do the Maunawili Falls hike. we got to the neighborhood that hike starts in, literally just parked on the street of a neighborhood. we headed in about 8 am. we got poured on for about 15 minutes. it was very muddy and slippery on the hike and we got lost at the end, we had gone up a stream maneuvering through the rocks when I decided to pull out my iPhone and check where we were. luckily I found a persons blog who posted pictures and I saw where we made a wrong turn. We went back- found the falls, but was a little hesitant to swim in the murky waters. So we took pictures and headed back out.

We saw about 8 people coming in as we left. And we were proud to say we got to the falls first that day.  That hike was 2.8 miles and my keens might have irreparable damage done to them (mud stains).
We then drove to diamond head. A much more touristy populated paved path type hike. It was cool though we hiked to the top and got some amazing pictures of the island. That hike was 2.3 miles total. After these lengthy hikes I planned to gorge myself with a burger and beer :).
We went to Waikiki to eat and planned for a beach day for the rest of the day. We had to walk a good mile from where we parked to finally eat. We ate at Dukes on the beach. Sooo good and my first Mai Tai.  It was tasty but not that special. I also tried a kona brewing company beer. Yummy too.
Ryan and I went to the beach. I wanted to go into the hot tub of one of the hotels but Ryan would not play along. Soon after we layed our stuff down it started pouring... we decided to walk around the touristy area. Bad idea because our feet were all sandy and soon both our feet were ripped to shreds from our flip flops. it was a long painful walk back to the car. we then went back to chads and ate some taco salad.
That night we watched the movie Rendition. it was really good but sad too. I cried :)

Hawaii Day 8

We are sitting in Dallas airport now...waiting to go home! After flying all through the night we are ready to be back on Virginia soil!

Hawaii Day 6

Our last full day here...we've had so much fun but are missing our babies so much. It's been so nice to get to FaceTime with them daily. And I know they are having a great time with Grammy, Grampy, and Auntie B.
Today we planned to paddle board again and then spend the rest of the day at the beach. Well it was pouring rain so that put a huge damper on everything. We ended up walking around Haleiwa and shopped and then ate at Cholo's Homestyle Mexican restaurant. It turned out to be national margarita day! So we had to have one. We made our way back to the beach and swam a little. We also saw a few sea turtles. They have HUGE heads. I almost had enough nerve to snorkel in the water with them, I had everything on, went underwater and felt the panic set it... It was a no go.
It was cool to see them though, even if I didn't snorkel to see them.

We headed back to Waipahu to go to dinner at the Disney Resort Restaurant - monkeypod. It was delicious. I got the dry mien which was Hawaii noodles with tofu. Sooo good. We also tried the 'downtown brown' beer which was so good too.

Hawaii Day 4

Today we got up extra early at was on the road by 7 am to go to the Pearl Harbor Memorial. Traffic was pretty bad on the way but we got there about 8 am. I went straight to the ticket office for the walk in tickets since they were booked until Sunday online (meaning we would miss the memorial). We were given 11:15am tickets. I took them and then aired for Ryan thinking 11:15 am completely interferes with hiking in Waikiki. At later time was turned in so we were given 9:15am tickets and it was perfect.  We did the audio tour and it was so informational and it was great. We then went on the memorial tour to the USS Arizona and it was so humbling.
After the Pearl Harbor tour we drove to koko head hike and did the hike. It was grueling but a great workout. Lots and lots of steps... I was sweating like crazy! We made it up in 40 mins...toured around the top for 15 minutes and then made it down in 25 minutes.  After the hike we drove to Waikiki beach for 2 hours. We loved it.
We layed on the beach and swam. Then we headed back to chads. Traffic was terrible and it took an hour. We went out to eat at Auntie Pasta's, it was a short walk from Chads apartment. We ate and drank and laughed. There was a balloon animal guy there for kids and I tried to get hello kitty but I think since we weren't kids they didn't come over.

Hawaii Day 3

Today was Ryan and I's first day on our own.  And we were busy! We got on the road before 9 and headed to the Dole Plantation. It's pretty much a tourist trap but it was cool to see how pineapples grow. We ate pineapple ice cream and it was delicious!!! We then headed up to Haleiwa bay and got paddle board lessons from the Surf n Sea. We had TJ the 50+ year old surfer do our lesson. He was a very slow talker and told Ryan he 'was built to surf' it was funny. We did pretty good with the paddle boarding. I fell once and Ryan fell 3 times :). It was fun, I think we need to do it again to have more time on the board.

After our lesson we drove farther north to find some good shrimp trucks. The one we read about was Giovanni's shrimp truck. But once we found it, it had over an hour wait. We chose a Thai and Korean BBQ instead. We stopped and waited 30 mins at Camaron Shrimp truck for some garlic shrimp for later just out of principle. They were good, I don't know about worth the wait but that's ok. We then went to Waimea Bay Beach Park to swim, it was beautiful. The waves were big and fun but not too dangerous. The rock that is famous for jumping off of is there, but the tide was out and no one was jumping, so we didn't. Hopefully we can make it this week atleast once.

After swimming we headed back to Chad's for a delicious chicken dinner and some wine :)

Hawaii day 2

I got to sleep until 7:45am.  So nice!! Ryan and I did a quick 30 min workout in the yard in the morning.  Then we went shopping at old navy and GAP.  We went to golf in the the afternoon, and went to golf at Klipper golf course. We went to the course that the president golfs at when he comes here. It turned out to be much better than  thought I it would be. I golfed way better than I thought I could.  We then ate at chads apartment. Salmon, so good.

Tomorrow we are heading to dole plantation and the north shore. Chad has to go back to work.

Hawaii Day 1

We woke up at 4am and 5:35am (Ryan and I). Ate some breakfast and by 8 am we in the car ready to sightsee. We drove to Camp Smith where Chad works and saw the view of Pearl Harbor. It was beautiful. Then we drove down to Ford Island and saw the floating golf ball and the USS Utah Memorial. We then drove to the Aloha stadium swap meet and saw and bought lots of goodies at the Flea Markets. We shopped for about an hour and got so many gifts to bring home.

We went back to chads apartment in Waipahu, ate lunch and then went to Ewa Beach. It was so windy that we would get pelted with sand when a gust came by. We saw the craziest pink poodle and another little dog that was dyed print and blue.  We swam but the coral was pretty bad. I got cut on my thigh and Ryan on his foot. It was warm out and the water was a little cool when first going in but you got used to it right away.  We stayed for a few hours then went back to chads to shower and get ready for dinner.

For dinner we headed into Waikiki and walked the shopping area. So much busier down there! I got some more Hello Kitty stuff (she's everywhere here!) then we ate dinner at Chucks cellar. It was SO good. I got Mahi mahi and chad and Ryan got prime rib and scallops.
We stopped for a drink at Yard House then headed back home. It gets a little chilly at night. Like need a sweatshirt chilly, not a coat. It's been about 80 for the high too. It's very very temperate, not hot or cold. I love it. My hair dries really fast too.

We got a lot done in our first day!

Broken Foot

January started out with a BANG...literally. On the 6th Ethan and Audrey were playing on their toy box as the normally do, from a sitting position and sliding down. As I walked into the room I see Ethan flying through the air at a height that could only be achieved from standing on the toy box and jumping off. He landed and immediately started crying. His was grabbing his left foot/ankle area. We iced it and kissed it and he calmed down. When Ryan came downstairs and asked what happened, Ethan went right over to the toy box to climb up and show him how he did it.

Ethan limped on the foot the whole day. That night we checked it out and there was no swelling or bruising and he never could point out right where it hurt. He just wouldn't walk on it. Monday at school I warned them and they said they would watch him. The end of the day we got a report that he seemed ok on it. I thought nothing of it again. The following Saturday he was barefoot and I noticed the limping was really bad, that he still was not putting any pressure on it. It really concerned me- so Monday I took him to the doctor and he was sent for x-rays and to a pediatric ortho. Wednesday we went to the ortho and even though the xray showed no fracture since he would not walk on it that he most likely had some sort of fracture that the xray didn't show.

So for the last 3 weeks he has been in a cast. I hoped it might slow him down, but it hasnt't. Not one bit. Wednesday he gets it off- yay!!
