Hawaii Day 3

Today was Ryan and I's first day on our own.  And we were busy! We got on the road before 9 and headed to the Dole Plantation. It's pretty much a tourist trap but it was cool to see how pineapples grow. We ate pineapple ice cream and it was delicious!!! We then headed up to Haleiwa bay and got paddle board lessons from the Surf n Sea. We had TJ the 50+ year old surfer do our lesson. He was a very slow talker and told Ryan he 'was built to surf' it was funny. We did pretty good with the paddle boarding. I fell once and Ryan fell 3 times :). It was fun, I think we need to do it again to have more time on the board.

After our lesson we drove farther north to find some good shrimp trucks. The one we read about was Giovanni's shrimp truck. But once we found it, it had over an hour wait. We chose a Thai and Korean BBQ instead. We stopped and waited 30 mins at Camaron Shrimp truck for some garlic shrimp for later just out of principle. They were good, I don't know about worth the wait but that's ok. We then went to Waimea Bay Beach Park to swim, it was beautiful. The waves were big and fun but not too dangerous. The rock that is famous for jumping off of is there, but the tide was out and no one was jumping, so we didn't. Hopefully we can make it this week atleast once.

After swimming we headed back to Chad's for a delicious chicken dinner and some wine :)
