gas leak

I drove my vintage bug home from work last night, well first I had a bunch of errands to run with it. Driving through olean I only stalled twice. both times at a light. nobody honked at me this time though. its going to take alot of getting used to, driving this standard car. I don't know why anyone would LOOK for a standard car when they have automatics....

so anyways on my way home I filled the bug for the first time. I got it with half a tank of gas and used almost all of it. When I was driving home from the gas station it smelled ALOT more like gas than normal. When I pulled into the drive way Ryan came to the window and was like "EMILY, you're leaking gas all over!!" I went to the front of the bug and sure enough in a matter of seconds there was a puddle of gas and a stream still coming out the front. I thought oh no there is a hole in my gas tank! But it was just the overfill area in the gas tank- I must have overfilled it. From now on I am going to put in a half a tank at a time. Good thing I didn't have anything stored in my trunk- or it would have been covered in gasoline. I still can't believe anyone put anything valuable in a bug's trunk. It is so dirty and gross.
